Last night I got to see one of my favorite bands, Metallica in concert.  I had a chance to see them when I was in high school, but decided to pass because I had a baseball game.   I made the comment then, I will get a chance to see them later.  Alittle more than 26 years later I finally got to make that a reality.

So much of our thinking is based on that above comment, I will “GET” a chance or I will “DO” it later.  The only guarantee we have is this very moment, anything can and will happen.  I was working on my work and coaching schedule the other day when the realization set in, next year will make 25 years since I graduated high school. So many people I haven’t seen or spoken with since then.

The comment was used multiple times at graduation, we “WILL” stay in contact.  Things happen and it’s usually LIFE that takes over planning and thinking.  As I sat thinking last night I’m at the age now where so many family and friends are getting to the age on the other side of life, myself included.  “TIME” continues to be my biggest hurdle, I can’t stop it and always seem to be running out of it.

I wrote this today and sent out in my morning message, If someone or something makes you happy and smile every time they’re around, make sure you’re around them more.  Sounds simple enough, but again we all find reasons to not get that time with others.  Some will distance from what makes them happy for fear of losing it.  Enjoy it, you never know when it will end.

We spend time wishing and hoping for more time with someone or something.  I love music!  It provides me with inspiration and motivation day in and day out.  Getting to see Metallica last night not only checked a box for me but set that reminder.  There’s been artist who’ve passed away in the last few years, Tom Petty and Prince, that I said I will see but never got the chance.

Here’s some thing’s I’m going to work very hard on moving forward.   Don’t wait on a result that I can’t control.  If I want it and can control it then I’m not going to wait on it.  Sometimes our biggest additions began with a subtraction.  Your job can replace you in a moments notice, however there is someone out there that can’t be replaced.

Take time today to “CHECK THE BOX”.

Enjoy the moments, the memories and the smiles!
