Like many things in life, when something is broken we simply throw it away, replace it and move on.  However, the one thing that once it’s broken it’s hard for many to move on from is yourself. We have a hard time coming to grips with admitting when we’re broken, in fact many won’t or can’t.  It’s like when you’re a child and you break something, you point fingers, try to hide it or run away.

We all have faced defeat, loss or a lack of confidence.  We feel lost in ourselves and others.  Some feel worthless or broken.  Now, how do you handle that feeling.  Do you seek help? Do you look for comfort? Do you have a safe place or activity to go to or do?  Or do you bury the feeling(s) and try to continue to tread on that thin ice?

I grew up lucky, I had a family full of love and support.  Did we struggle, yes?  Was there food stamps, yes? Was there jokes about the apartment we lived in and the clothes we wore, yes?  Did that stop the love and support, No?  I never went without, did I have the name brands, no.  My parents made sure I had what I needed.

Did I chase the in-crowd and want/ long to be accepted when I was younger, yes?  Did peer pressure play apart in decisions that I still regret to this day, yes?  However, those decisions, the feeling of being broken helped me to grow and build myself into what I’am today. I learned the things I thought I wanted weren’t the things I needed.  The people I so wanted to fit in with took a different path, as did I.  I became me.  I learned that being me, being broken was the path I was supposed to be on.  I became happy with who I was and who I was becoming.  I in turn made others happy.

There is nothing that makes me more happy than being able to make someone smile.  A smile is the first thing I notice in someone. It’s the key to finding happiness and being able to pick up the broken pieces and moving forward.

Never be afraid to fix being broken, never be afraid to ask for help, never be afraid to help someone put the pieces back together and never be afraid to smile.  A smile usually is the final piece of the puzzle.

Enjoy your day!
