Take pride in each step you take, the footprint you leave will impact the person(s) following you. We often take for granted how important the little things are to others. A misstep should never derail us from our final designation.
Now that those thoughts are out there, lets take a deeper dive into what each step is. Your footprint no matter how big or small will impact someone along your journey. Someone is going to look up to you or want to either be like you or want to be with you as you move forward. Know that often times you may feel like you’re walking alone, stop and look around to see who is right there behind you.
I know coaching high school baseball especially on road trips, I get a lot of time to think as I make those drives by myself. I question alot of things. Is what I’m doing making a difference? Do my guys know how much they mean to me? Do they know I’ll always have their back? Is what I’m trying to do leaving a positive footprint for them to following?
I have a few players that don’t see the impact they are having on others. This past weekend we had an event honoring some past players. I was able to witness some players represent themselves, their teammates and the program at a level that would make any coach proud. Those same players have young players and parents reaching out to say how much of an impact they are and continue to have on young athletes.
We are not going to be able to take every step in the direction we want to head. There’s going to be a misstep. There’s going to be a trip and probably a fall along the way. How are you going to handle when life provides an opportunity to learn and grow? We are not going to be perfect everyday, however we can try to make everyday perfect.
I tell my guys everyday leave things better than you find them. Take pride in the little things as over time they will become big. We won’t win everyday, but we have the chance to learn everyday. Your journey may be yours to take, but know that someone is going to follow in the footstep’s you leave.
Enjoy your day and the footprints you leave!
